The State of Tennessee has released gripping body camera footage showcasing the courageous efforts of wildlife officer Justin Pinkston as he saved a man’s life during the height of the catastrophic flooding brought on by Helene. The dramatic video offers a firsthand view of the perilous conditions faced by Pinkston and his team as they braved fast-moving waters to carry out life-saving rescues.
Amid the surging floodwaters, Officer Pinkston’s calm but urgent actions are evident as he navigates treacherous conditions to reach the stranded man. Risking his own safety, Pinkston’s training and quick decision-making were on full display as he successfully brought the man to safety. His efforts were part of a larger mission that saw his team rescue over a dozen people that day.
Recognizing the Heroes
Pinkston and his fellow officers’ bravery did not go unnoticed. During a recent ceremony, several members of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) were honored for their heroic actions during the flood emergency. Among those recognized were:

- District 42 Officer Justin Pinkston
Jimmy Granbery, chairman of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission, commended the officers’ selflessness and valor. “In the face of unprecedented disaster, the law enforcement officers of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency selflessly rushed to action to rescue those threatened by rising waters and provide critical aid,” Granbery stated.
