The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security (TDOSHS) announced the opening of a temporary driver services location at the Unicoi Police Department to assist individuals affected by recent flooding.
In a news release on Monday, TDOSHS stated that the temporary center will provide duplicate identification licenses and driver licenses exclusively for those impacted by the floods. The temporary location at the Unicoi Police Department, situated at 3600 Unicoi Drive in the Town of Unicoi, will be operational from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through October 4.
It is important to note that the services at this location are limited to flood victims and will not be available to the general public.
TDOSHS has also opened a second temporary driver services center at Newport Grammar School in Newport to further support those displaced by the floods. Plans are in motion to establish additional temporary locations in other flood-affected areas to help those in need.
This response comes as part of ongoing efforts by the state to provide critical services to flood victims as communities begin the recovery process.
